Department of Botany

This department was started as Bio-Sciences in the year 1995. Later in 1995 separate department in the name of Zoology was affiliated to teach in general course up to undergraduate level. The college was favored with the extension of affiliation up to honours level in the session 2000-2001.

This is one of the oldest departments of our college. A unique record of this department is that in the very 1st batch of the examinees, one student stood 1st class 1st in the University Examination. The department is maintaining this bright result regularly and many students get 1st class in the University Examinations every year

This is a newly opened department. The subject was first started as a general one. Later on Honours, courses were offered to the students from 2000. It is one of the oldest departments of the college. It offers honours teaching facilities from the year 1996. The number of books in the department is sufficient enough to meet the needs of the Honours students.

Department of Sanskrit

The department of Sanskrit was started in 1967 with the permission of teaching general course under the purview of Calcutta University. From the session 2002-2003, Honours course has been introduced. Moreover, in keeping consistency with the subject taught, the students are made aware of the culture, civilization and traditional heritage of India.

The special feature of the department is holding special classes for the interested students even after the filling in forms for their better academic performance. It has a departmental library also.

The results of the students in University examinations are consistently very good.

Department of Zoology

This department started in the year 1978 as the department of Bio-Sciences. Later in 1995 separate department in the name of Zoology was affiliated to teach in general course up to undergraduate level. The college was favoured with the extension of affiliation up to honours level in the session 1998-1999.

The department is fully equipped with required instruments. The specimen museum is well furnished. Results of the departmental students are satisfactory. A well furnished departmental library is present. All the required equipments are present in the department. Results of students in the university examinations are quite satisfactory.

Department of Vocational Course

Automobile Maintenance (Self Financing):
The introduction of this non-traditional subject is a unique feature of the college. It was introduced from the session 1997-1998 as a self-financing vocational course. This department has well-equipped laboratories with adequate instruments. Teachers take a keen interest in guiding the students in both theoretical and practical classes. The results are satisfactory. Many students have been absorbed in different sectors after completion of this course at the undergraduate level.
